abreviations in knitting pattern for a toy duck – please aid?

on my third row (previously done one k wise and one p wise both of 16st) it instructs me to ‘increase k wise into every stitch – 32 stitches’. Now this implies to me that i would then need to do this for another 16 rows as im adding one stitch per row, but the next instruction on the same sentence is ‘beginning with a p row continue in st -st and work 11 rows’.

first what on eart is st-st and secondly what on earth am i supposed to actually do for the third instruction??? im baffled.

fo the third row you will double the amount of stitched on that row only. This is probably done by knitting into the front and back of the same stitch if it didn’t tell you otherwise. You might need to look up a video or diagram on how to do that. At the end of your third row you will now have 32 stitches instead of 16.

The next instruction stays to continue in ST ST Stockinette Stitch (knit on right side purl on wrong side) for 11 rows, since you just knitted the increase (row 3) your first row of that 11 rows will be a purl row, then alternate knit and purl rows for 10 more rows.
